Choosing a hunt
For a group of young children, start close to home. The backyard hunt and the toddler hunt use things most families already have around them.
For a rainy afternoon, the indoor hunt and the rainy day hunt swap puddles for puzzles. If you have teenagers, the photo hunt in the teen photo scavenger hunt turns the list into snapshots.
For travel and holiday time, there are hunts for road trips, beach days and camping, as well as for Christmas lights and Halloween.
How the generator helps
Any item can carry points after a bar, so you can award extra for hard finds. Choose from a plain checklist, two columns, a photo layout or a team score sheet. Add blank name lines for players, or a timer line for races.
Shuffle the order and print several copies, and each team gets the same items in a different sequence. That stops children from following each other from place to place.
Outdoor hunts work best with a few simple rules. Stay in sight of an adult, look without picking, and leave nature where it was. Our guide to planning a scavenger hunt explains how to set the boundary and choose prizes, and the scavenger hunt generator builds any list you can think of.
FAQ
How long does a scavenger hunt take?
Most hunts take 20 to 40 minutes. Toddlers can finish a short list in ten, and a long car trip hunt can stretch over hours.
Can I print the hunt in black and white?
Yes. The checklists are plain text, so black and white looks the same as color.
